Extinction and a new birth

I am sure some of you have heard for this because it was on some headlines in several magazines I have found so far on the internet. Here is the one of them. So, the process already started and it can`t be stopped now. Professor Fenner is not just any name in science world, he is the man who is responsible for eradication of smallpox. So, I guess he knows something about extinction of species.
Wow!!! Only 100 years. I know, probably I won`t be around in 100 years from now. Actually, I planned a long life, until I reach 120th birthday. Then I will see what to do next, but since I got 41 just 5 days ago, it leaves me around 80 more years to try as much adventures as possible; that means that I will probably miss the moment of human race disappearance but I don`t care too much. Aniway, it will be boring to stay around anymore
And now something completely different. Scientists have discovered a new baby star born :hat: :sing:    A newcomer with a cute name L1448-IRS2E is less than 800 years old and is in pre-stellar phase. I guess it would be nursling phase in human age. Isn`t this an awww-moment? :awww: May it have a long life and when a time comes to say good bye may it be in a supernova big bang style 😎
Link to the article here.
I couldn`t find appropriate photo so here is the one I found in NASA Astonomy Picture of the Day gallery.

Medusa nebula, known also as Abell 21, in Gemini constellation. Well, at least this is what it looked like 1500 years ago :left:

If you find a way to instantly accelerate to something close to light speed, your time will stay the same, while our time should run faster, so basically when you come back, instantly decelerating to our speed, you can see the future.

  2. SittingFox says:

A new star! ⭐ Very cute 😉 Wow. That must have been an amazing moment for the astronomers. As for the extinction thing…well, I think that's a rather controversial and totally untestable hypothesis!

  3. gdare says:

Lorenzo, as what I read in one book: Time is just a time. It will come and go.The same with future – it will come my way, eventually :DAdele, they say billions of them are being born every day. Isn`t that amazing? They are just so distant we can`t see them. Or, future astronomers will see them – if there is going to be astronomes in future :PKimmie, there will be 7 billions of people during next year :eyes: And it was 4 billions only 20 years ago :faint:

  4. Spaggyj says:

Hm. Well it's no surprise we're overpopulated really. Kids have kids these days 🙄 and people are living longer and longer thanks to medical sciences. But, hey. A new star's a nice thing. Like the image you chose too.

  5. Spaggyj says:

Yeah, I read that in the article.

  6. qlue says:

Human extinction? Possible, but not likely. :left:. Were just too stubborn! :p.

  7. ellinidata says:

 to long life, to smallpox! It can make big damage especially to a man :Dand  to a new born Star! as long as these stars stay away from earth I am OK with them… :up:I was watching the 41 year Old virgin the other day 😆 and despite of the fact you are NOT a virgin :p I had to smile 🙂 41 years old men seem to develop an amazing sense of humor! 😆

  8. gdare says:

Aadil :yes:Angeliki, I will have to find that movie 😀 It is a movie, right? :left:

Beer and vodka will cause the same thing.;)As you know, I'm also forty one. No big deal. On the other hand 41 years is a long time to know somebody as close as we know ourselves, isn't it? Think about it. We are stuck with our own company, 24-7, year after year. We know everything we do, think and feel, and no matter what they want us to believe we know ourselves better than anybody else do.We'd better like ourselves. I reccomend that a lot.

    yes!!!!!!!!!! and worth watching!

Thanks so much for the post — I had been craving astronomy stuff for days now but didn't get around to it.Followed a lot of the links and the links to links, in fact have just spent about 30 minutes doing it. As for the Universe, there certainly does seem to be a lot going on! :p :p 😆

  12. gdare says:

Martin, I like myself. When I was young I was torturing myself with long trainings and tests, both mental and physical. But I always knew I will gain benefits from that one day :happy:Originally posted by Aqualion:

So, deceleration would be something like crapulence? 😆 :lol:Angeliki, okie :DEd, yes, even though it looks like nothing is going on. When you look to the night sky, the same old stars are winking to you, night after night, year after year 😉

Ah, that's only for you young pups. We older sorts have seen the birth and death of stars. :p

  14. L2D2 says:

Dare, you probably will live to be 120, still unmarried.Nice picture. I got my background from Hubble site. All these pictures that the Hubble has taken over the years are absolutely mind boggling. I've read that the center of the galaxy is a nursery and birthing area for stars. I guess a lot of them fizzle and burn out early or we'd be inundated with baby stars all over the place.

  15. sanshan says:

There is beauty in the world….la la la…

  16. KYren says:

 God has finally decided to take us back into heaven, after banishing us from it years ago.

  17. risis1977 says:

    Wow :eyes: . . Nice . .

  18. gdare says:

Linda, one can never know :whistle:As for Hubble, images made by that telescope is amazing. But have you seen ones made by Spitzer? Another space telescope but with newer technologies :yes:http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/San, there is beatuty all around us ;)Kiran, because he saw we made too much damage here, or? :DRisis, thanks 🙂

  19. L2D2 says:

I'm familiar, of course, with the Spitzer telescope, but just have never really looked it up and visited that site. Guess I'll have to put that in my to do list.

  20. L2D2 says:

Yeah, that's it, Darko. You're too young. Just a youngling. muhahahahaha.

  21. raniakasim says:

dear Darko i find the matter of human extinction is unreasonable one .i can't imagine that one day we will extinct , it just a prediction which i don't believe in ,or i refuse to believe in .by the way now i understand why u are not married till now if u wish to live for 120 year this means that u still so young for marriage

  22. gdare says:

Yesh, I am still an  😮

  23. KYren says:

Maybe he's bored of us. Now he intends to put a new species of intellegent animals in places of us on this stage, the earth. He now wants to see how'd they write their versions of scriptures.

  24. edwardpiercy says:

Well I don't ever remember Darko saying anything about being a VIRGIN…

  25. sanshan says:

If he doesn't hurry up they'll make a movie about him "The 120 year old virgin". 😆

  26. sanshan says:

    Well, he's not married yet…and he's a good Orthodox boy. (isn't he? ) 🙄

  27. gdare says:

    Err… Skyfire?

  28. gdare says:

Back to astronomy. "Astronomers at the University of Sheffield have managed to record for the first time the eerie musical harmonies produced by the magnetic field in the outer atmosphere of the sun."Link to the article and a "sound" of our sun:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/7840201/Music-of-the-sun-recorded-by-scientists.htmlNo link for phonies, unfortunately 😦

  29. KYren says:

    I use Skyfire, dude. 😀

  30. Suntana says:

Scare tactics … although if they don't plug up that Gulf of Mexico oil spill soon Trying to implement a new type of birth control — Scare the Beejeezes out of everyone into not having kids.

  31. Dacotah says:

Hope your birthday was a happy one. :)Love the Nasa photo.

  32. qlue says:

Skyfire is a browser for smartphones that can actually display most videos. But it sends text down as a video as well, so it's kinda expensive for South Africans since we can't get a true "unlimited" data plan. :awww:.

  33. KYren says:

Aadil, that's one more reason to pray for the extinction. 😀

  34. gdare says:

Carlos, in Serbia we don`t have a problem with overpopulation but I guess Kiran could explain how it looks like in India, for instance. Soon, people will need to start to drill under the ground because surface is too occupied. And I don`t even want to think about food. Soon, wars for food will start. There was already one for water, in Kenya-Somalia border :left:Carol, it was ok, nothing spectacular but nice and fun 😀 Thanks :)Aadil, thanks for explanation :up:Kiran, then you will have nothing to watch on your smartphone. There won`t be internet :left:

  35. Dacotah says:

Darko, nice and fun is good. :DYou are welcome. 🙂

  36. KYren says:

I am ready to sacrifice that for a total peace. Nothing has been that special for me here on earth anyways. To be in India is like really being banished from Eden.

  37. sanshan says:

Oh, the whole world will end up invading Canada anyway. Lots of room here. :left:Then again, do you know how COLD it is here? Brrrrrrr……and there's black flies and rattlesnakes and grizzly bears….

    Yummy!!!What is for dessert? :chef:

  39. sanshan says:

There are scorpions and cacti in the deserts here. 🙄

  40. MirabelaTM says:

Hmm..it's hard to believe in human extinction in just 100 years..but who knows :worried:

  41. gdare says:

San ;)Mira, have you ever heard about Apophis? Everything is possible, but is not that likely to happen, I think 😀

  42. sanshan says:

But our desserts are excellent. Of course the main ingredient is snow.

  43. MirabelaTM says:

Darko, I haven't heard of it before, I read your link. I agree, everything is possible. I hope that will not happen..but i know that my hope doesn't have much influence over these things 🙂

  44. gdare says:

San, ok, I like snow :chef:Mira, don`t worry, I will change its path on my next trip to orbit 😎

  45. Suntana says:

Japan's surface is already too occupied, isn't it?

  46. studio41 says:

thanks for sharing the link, Darko

  47. Abbacus says:

Yea, a new baby star! 🙂 A saucer full of secrets!:spock:

  48. MirabelaTM says:

    Good idea 😎
