Sunday stroll

Or should I say drabble? It was over zero today and snow started to melt. But still a lot of it on streets, making walking somewhat troubled. Except on shady parts where it was still frozen and slippery. Perfect for breaking a bone :insane:
But still felt nice.

I went to my friend Ivana and we walked along Danube to catch some air and sun. As always, our walk ended up in cafe-pub, this time it was "Crveni Rak" :coffee:

Hmm, doesn't sound like too much fun for walking. Despite wearing good hiking boots, I slipped over a number of times when we had our deepest snow of the winter (so far…) but didn't break anything.I wonder how long it would have to stay like this for the Danube to freeze over, like the Saskatchewan River!

You live that close to the Danube, the Blue Danube Dare? That's great. One of the most famous rivers in the whole universe and it's in your back yard so to speak. I'll let you enjoy walking in that snow. Ours is all gone.

  3. Spaggyj says:

Certainly looks slippy 😆 . It's a beautiful thing, snow, though. Lovely pictures.

Despite the cold, it looks like you had a wonderful walk. Love that little bit of color, the small red boat, in the first picture. Now the pub is somewhere I'd like to be. What a cute, warm and cozy place that was.

Linda, Danube is as close as 15 minutes of walk from my place. Belgrade and Zemun were built around two rivers, Danube and Sava :)Adele, my grandpa told me that when he was young, it was nothing unusual for Sava or Danube to freeze over. Then a people would walk over to the other side, without having to use bridges. There were few accidents though and it was forbidden. Last time I saw floating ice on Danube was in 1984. during very hard winter.Carol :)Kimmie, thanks, it was pleasure despite everything; it was unusuačl to see that pub empty, everyone wanted to be out on a fresh air :DStar 😀 thanks :)Angeliki, thanks; what is going on in New York, more snow?Pam, everything was mostly grey andblack and white so colours were welcome to change that 😀 We were talking to the owner of pub yesterday, he said that not much photographs and stuff he put on walls is his own, usually people who are regular visitors bring something from their own houses; or he find it in flee market and buy it for a cheap price. Very nice place to be in during winter 😀

That sounds like a great place to sit, look around and enjoy a beer or a hot toddy.

  9. gdare says:

"Crveni rak" is our winter shelter, warm and usually crowded. During summer we go to "Galerija", another place near the Danube with a nice view on the river and bank on the other side of it 😀

  10. PainterWoman says:

Have you done a post about that place? Or do you have photos?

  11. PainterWoman says:

Now I could see more people inside. I must look through some of your older posts before I knew you. Some wonderful photos in them. What about the Galerija? Any photos of that? Is that the place that almost looks like a shack on the outside and has some barrels as tables and chairs to sit outside?

  12. gdare says:

Put some photos 3 years ago. I don`t remember if I made a post  😆http://my.opera.com/gdare/albums/show.dml?id=392346

  25. gdare says:

I started to feel tired, it always happens when weather changes from winter to spring. Of course it still looks as winter, no flowers or green leaves but changing a temerature caused this. All I want is to sleep

  26. gdare says:

Thanks 😀 I wrote some short stories, mostly personal ones but a novel would be too much for me. I am just not that good. But, thank you anyway

  27. Abbacus says:

The history, the architecture and land, the people and politics: everything about where you live is the stuff that great novels are made of. You should write one or two!

  28. qlue says:

Darko, is it true the Danube is often more brown than it is blue? :left:.Still, it must be a lovely place..

  29. gdare says:

Aadil, it depends on a colour of a sky. So it goes from blue to brown and dark grey.Blue:Grey:

  42. gdare says:

  43. SqueakeyCat says:

Tuesday night, I wound up in the ER. Read my newest post (the longest I have ever written), that I just got up on my blog. It took me almost 12 hours to write it.

  44. Marike79 says:

Darko, they look kinda similar but doesn't have the same atmosphere.

  45. qlue says:

So English pubs don't smell of stale beer and cigarette smoke?.

  46. gdare says:

Kim, I will this evening; sorry I didn`t have a time to read it before;Marike, I know what you mean.I have never been in any pub in England – I have never been in England as well 😛 – so I can`t compare ours with theirs 🙂
