Cold white stuff coming down from skies

Last evening I went early to bed, I had a busy day and later spent some time out looking after some book as a present for my friend`s birthday.
:sst: don`t tell her, it should be surprise :left:
So, I went to bed around 9 p.m. Strange light woke me around 3 in the morning :alien:
No, not alien ship but a snow storm that started about that time. I was too tired to get up and check it out, instead I fall asleep under the warm blanket. Mmmmm….
In 7 in the morning it looked like this

It can`t be seen in a photo but it was still snowing, flakes were tiny, carried by a strong north-west wind. They say we have 31cm – 12 inch of snow now. City was half blocked, snow on the roads made drivers crazy, several accidents….
But when I came home from a training it looked peaceful and calm…..

I was gonna say how beautiful the first picture was, but then I looked at the night one. It's lovely!

  2. gdare says:

Thanks Kimmie. I liked being out today, even though it meant spending some time in bus stop, freezing and rubbing face. Flakes were tickling and I tried to hide myself. But it still felt nice. Snow, coldness, wind, breath vapour in a cool air… I enjoyed a lot ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. sanshan says:

Lovely. I should've booked that flight after all. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. edwardpiercy says:

Love the second shot. Glad you got some snow.Is that a courtyard there at your apartment building?" don`t tell her, it should be surprise"You mean she doesn't read your blog? Some friend that is! :p(my local friends don't read my blog either. ๐Ÿ˜† )

  5. edwardpiercy says:

Linda, that is true. Of course, there could be an Opera member living next door to me and I wouldn't know it. I'm kinda a hermit. (Sounds like you are too.):)

  6. Aqualion says:

The same here. Been like that all day. I'm starting to get annoyed with this weather. Somebody turn the Sun back on, please.

Remember the verse in the Bible…."A prophet is without honor in his own country…."No one around here reads my blog either, neither does my family. My friend Calvin reads it if I mention a new post.Dare, those are gorgeous pictures, especially the last one. That beautiful nighttime glow makes it look not so cold.

  8. gdare says:

You can do it whenever you want. I may save some snow in a fridge ๐Ÿ˜†

  9. MirabelaTM says:

It does look peaceful and calm ๐Ÿ™‚ The both photos are beautiful

  10. PainterWoman says:

I ditto everyone on that second photo. Love the colors in it. Strange how it seems warmer and cozier in the night scene yet it's probably colder than during the day when you took the other one.

She drove a school bus after she got off work where we both were employed. She swore up and down that I never came out of my house once I got home, and that is pretty much the truth.

  12. SittingFox says:

It looks quite serene! If only people would stop trying to travel in the stuff, all would be well with the world :whistle:From what you've been saying, I think this has been a wetter and warmer winter for you than usual, while it's been colder and snowier for us. Only, you've got your usual snow now, and it's still colder than average up here! Our winter will probably never end :insane:

  13. Dacotah says:

Great photos Darko. It's been snowing here all day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Martin, spring is around a corner, only few more weeks away :up:Linda and Ed, only my relatives from Croatia and one friend in Belgrade read my posts ๐Ÿ˜† The rest of them are just not interested :lol:Pam, orange lights give it warmth, but a temperature is about -3C (26,6F); but it looks nice, especially from a warm room :DMira, thanks; how was it in Romania today?Adele, this winter has been unusually cold and with a lot of snow – unlike the previous 10 or even 15 ones :left: Thanks!Carol and Angeliki, I saw yesterday on the news what is going on in USA – I just can`t believe how much snow you got in only two days :faint: If this happens here, everything would stop :insane: My grandpa told me it was not unusual 50+ years ago but I can`t remember when we had more than 50cm – 20 inches of snow…

  16. ellinidata says:

it is not normal that 49 States out of the 50 had snow ! It never happened before! :eyes: only Hawaii did not have snow this winter! unbelievable! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ we do expect another 5"-7" on Monday…

  17. edwardpiercy says:

I heard it snowed on Mauna Kea, which is not unusual. So even Hawaii got some. The only place it has snowed much here is at elevations. Here in Spokane seems like 1/2". ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

  20. sanshan says:

You may have to save it for awhile. But if you want to help our Olympic skiing events you could maybe mail it over here. ๐Ÿ™„

Vancouver seems to be getting light rain this afternoon, but now later they're getting dumped on with snow. Which for the games is a good thing. Thanks for sending us some of your snow, Darko! ๐Ÿ˜€

Martin, it was sunny and warm here, too. Snow started to melt but there are still a lot of it. I will make a post about my walk today :)Scott, thanks; I went to training yesterday and spent about one and half hour in a bus :left:

  38. rose-marie says:

I think that snow is heading this way. :(I agree with several posters before me that the second picture is nice. I like the trace of crossing footsteps (?)

  39. volkuro says:

I could lend you my snow shovel if you want, I have not using it since xmas! ๐Ÿ˜€

  40. sanshan says:

You don't need it when you're lounging on a tropical beach. ๐Ÿ™„

  41. volkuro says:

I have done other things too, you know! :pI'm back from skiing. It's really time we have new snow because the ski season won't make it to march to way it's going. Some slopes were closed… :(I'm not supposed to live in a nordic country?? ๐Ÿ™„

  42. gdare says:

Rose, I walked over that playground today afternoon. It`s over 30cm of snow there; of course it is going your way, you live in Norway, you are supposed to have snow until May :DLouis, I will wait for it to melt, it will be in a few days :whistle:San, I would trade for a tropical beach now ๐Ÿ˜€

  43. Aqualion says:

We have had the same snow lying around since shortly before Christmas. It's gettig trivial. Even the snow itself seems to be bored. Getting grey, and quite dull looking. Cars are moving carefully through icy streets. People in four layers of clothing walking ahead like penguins, talking in muffled voices through knitted scarfs.

  44. gdare says:

All of the snow we have is no older than few weeks, it was warm after new year and I thought it will be a winter like any other. Then everything changed. Originally posted by Aqualion:

  45. Aqualion says:

Good thing, I'm not a shop keeper. People will come in from the cold with the entire head covered in knitwear and ask 'Mooflebobmenotogijamonpfftghtuirnd?' Customer service is a difficult thing when you have to deal with that, don't you think?

  46. MirabelaTM says:

The weather here is similar like in BG I think. It's around zero and we have some snow. Happy beginning of a week ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. gdare says:

Martin, 'Mooflebobmenotogijamonpfftghtuirnd?' means 'Do you have fresh bread and muffins?' This one was easy ๐Ÿ˜€ :whistle:Mira, thanks; as you probably know we have national holiday here today, but I am among the few who has to work :awww:

  48. thetomster says:

๐Ÿ˜€ looks pretty much the same here ๐Ÿ˜€

  49. gdare says:

Dirk, now I am wondering what will happen with Danube when all that snow start to melt. We will have bigger flood than that one 3 years ago :insane:

  50. thetomster says:

:insane: could be … like here … I guess we will have a new flooding record … having had so much time to be prepared for this ill make it even worse 'cause hardly anything happened in flood preventing …
