Does anyone recognize this one? It was small at the beginning but in less than 2 months it grew up to about 2cm – almost an inch.
Another interesting thing: I tried to touch it with a straw and it didn`t react. It doesn`t matter what I tried, it remained as dead. But when I touched one of its legs with my finger it started to move, swinging on the net. Treid it several times with same result. When photographing, two time (once with a flash) it didn`t react but third time it ran away :bug:
That is good one Dare. Have no idea of :bug: species. Might get one of the wildlife blog people to try to identify it. Like Andy Wilson

:eyes: that's a cute one … I like them … :bug: :bug: :bug: :bug: 😀 seems it lives at your office like most of colleagues … thinking who moves first will be lost 😆 … really nice photo 😎

MizzM, thank you. Maybe I was stupid, better to say :PDirk, thank you; my coleague looked at me like I was insane touching it :left: :lol:Linda, I hope if Words and/or Adele would come here, they might know more. I will wait 🙂
You are a brave man! :eyes:
it looks very much like the spiders my dad has in the bee farmThey have the amber colors and they eat the dead bees. To my knowledge they are poisonous but this one might not be :)stellar picture if I may add!
Is this inside or outside your window?!!! I'm sure it's a good photo but I will NOT look at it again. I get the creepy crawlers up and down my legs when I see spiders…even pictures of them. I do NOT like spiders at all. In my old house, we used to get alot of Black Widows. Those are poisonous.
Chthoniid might know.
Orbweb of some kind- but not from my part of the world (sorry, possbily 50,000 spider species and I can't identify them all!). She sleeps during the day which is why she is oblivious to minor harrassment. 🙂
 You're evil. 😥
The only spider I really "like" is a tarantula. I can tolerate any other, as long as I know it's there. If it sneaks up on me, all's fair in love and war.
I like spiders. Most gardeners and plant people do. Spiders kill more bad plant bugs than just about anything. Gardener's friend
I have handled several Boa Constrictors that belonged to friends of mine. One of them used to get out on a regular basis. The owner and I went to a party one night and I wore his red Boa around my neck. Boy, did we get attention!
You are welcome Darko. 🙂
We have tarantulas here in Texas. Used to entice them out of their holes in the ground when I lived in Sanger, Tex., which is near Ft. Worth "where the West begins." Some were as big as the palm of my hand
I am petrified of them. Everytime I come here to read the comments, I have to put my hand over my eyes so I don't see the picture. It's something about those legs. I think I'll go look at some beach photos before I go to bed.
Spiders are OK—–now ticks are a whole other pot of stew!
That's interesting , I was just thinking about Lois myself.
I think Lois was going to Europe for a while or something, but I may be mistaken.
Spiders have eight legs. I can just hear their little feet 'chhk chk chking" across the floor…or ceiling. Of course I must be afraid!
Dirk, I was afraid of them when I was a kid, but then I borrowed a book from library, Spiders – eight legged hunters and I learnt about them. Not that I would feel comfortable with it crawling on me, but I am not afraid of them anymore :)Angeliki, thank you for the link and explanation. We don`t have bees in vicinity, maybe some wasps, but its web looks too tiny to hold anything bigger than a fly :left:Carol, thanks :)Chthoniid, thank you and welcome to my blog :)I`ve checked orbweb in Google and looked at photographs, you could be right. Btw, how do you know it is "she"?Pam, the spider is outside the window, of course. It would probably starve to death in our office :PSan, but I gave my bestnot to hurt it, just touched few times. I even stopped my coleague when he wanted to kill it :knight:Star, I like tarantulas too, we had them in our zoo. I will have to go again and check if they still have them. Luckily, we don`t have them out in the open :DLinda, I think they are in higher level among insects, and I respect them 😀 Never kill them unless I am forced to :left:
It suddenly occurred to me yesterday, because of something a friend said, that I have not seen user cackleberrylane around in months. Wonder what happened to her. Remember her? She used to be at all thenature blogs to comment.
I agree with Painterwoman, it's the legs!
No, It's not that, I have a long history with spiders.http://my.opera.com/sanshan/blog/show.dml/397820http://my.opera.com/sanshan/blog/show.dml/282625I seem to remember a few Opera members tormenting me with spider pictures. I believe JCL_75…but he doesn't seem to be available right now. All I remember is that I couldn't bear to go back and look at his blog for awhile.
My German Shepherd got one on the tip of his tail one time. Drove him crazy. He ran around like a chicken with its head cut off, and finally ran into the house. My son had to sit on him to get him still enough to get the thing off him. The dog was crying and growling at the same time.It was hilarious.
Linda, one of my friends from Hungaria had them in his house as pets. A lot of snakes too. He had a special room for their terariums so they could not escape. But he needed to take python to bathroom for showering, though :DStar, if your dohg was that scared then I understand the reputation they have in Arizona :insane:San, sorry, I didn`t know that, then I would send you a warning :left: ….. maybe not 😀 You don`t have to be afraid of that one 😀
Hmmm, you are right, she was not around lately. I will check on her blog later.Carol 🙂
 What is this ??? I hate Darko , I can't stand on watching photo :yuck: :yuck:
Oh dear Lord. A warning next time, please, Darkie. I almost lost my tea :yuck: . It is a very odd looking spider from what I see though! I can't believe you poked it :insane:
It's the things without legs I'm not too fond of. When you have to dig parasitic fly maggots out of your flesh (in tropical jungles), your affection for these critters ebbs.Fwiw, male spiders have quite elaborate pedipalps, and in orbwebs, relatively smaller abdomens.Spiders are quite handy really. Extremely few of them are dangerous. There's been the odd time when I've slept in places where you have to shake the cockroaches out of the bedding first. A good population of spiders and lizards means there's a good chance the cockroaches will get eaten before they make it back to the bed.
:eyes: I can't understand how people make a relation with this creature :yuck:
So how does it look now folded between the pages of a book? 😉
What's all this terror over a cute leettle spider?? 😆 :bug: They're our best friends: the world would hardly be habitable without them!Neil is probably your best bet here. Maybe it's a garden spider that got lost :right: I did wonder about a missing sector spider Zygiella x-notata (is an orb, likes windows and is active all year round) but the markings and abdomen shape don't look right. I've got a lot to learn about spider ID, to be honest.Yeah, I've been wondering about Lois too.
Very pretty spider! 🙂
Nothing should have 8 legs :insane: . No, I know just how helpful spiders are. I hate all bugs, however, and rid them all.
– John Muir
Most spiders are completely harmless to people, unlike the flies and bugs they catch. I'd rather a spider than bluebottle fly in the house any day!
Hey, they don't belong in my house. Nature can stay outside where it belongs. I don't bother them in their homes :p
David 😆 I almost missed your comment. I will never kill it with book :faint:
Chthoniid, I abhore (?) cockroaches, not to the point that I would scream or jump on a chair, but there is a feeling of filth I have when I see them :yuck:
Linda, I bet you looked like Zhora from Blade Runner :DSan :awww:Nasim :awww:Kimmie :awww:Pam :awww:Ok, I promise if I am ever going to make post with spider's photos again, I will put some kind of warning :D:lol: It seems that all of the people are divided into two groups: the ones that find spiders interesting and the others that think they are gross.I like them as long as they don't crawl over me but even when it happened I maneged to move them away without killing them.Adele, thanks, I will go to Neil's blog and ask him if he can identify it.
You touched one of its legs with your finger? You trying to turn it on? 😆 It's a spider … NOT a woman. :jester: What if it bit you and paralyzed you. Then it would suddenly morph into a HUGE creature and pounce on your face like the Alien in the movie Alien! :yikes: :insane:
 stupid arachnids, they've no sense of personal space.
I couldn't agree more!
My god, that thing looks like it's going to eat you for breakfast!Originally posted by Spaggyj:
😆
That's true. I remember a vacation in southern Europe once, where a spider had built a home in the bathroom! :insane:
I don't! I wouldn't creep around the bushes they live in to stand on all their twigs and webs and other possessions, and I don't position myself right in front of their faces when they're sleeping :insane: I do them a courtesy, they can do me one :p
😮
