Some people were asking me what kind of martial arts I am practicing. So, here are two small videos I made for personal use – sorry for a bad quality – and they will stay here for about a week from now, then I will close them.

First one is a kata from Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iai – Yamauchi Ha. Kata is Oroshi from Tatehiza series.

(video removed)

In following video you can see a Tameshigiri or cutting practice in Nakamura Ryu Battodo, curently the main ryu I am practicing. This is first time I tried Mizu Gaeshi, cutting of two targets, each in its separate stands.

(video removed)

I hope you like them. This is one small insight in my martial arts experience. I am practicing Aikido as well and in past I was practicing Kendo (1986 – 1998).
I have 1st DAN in Kendo and Iaido and 3rd DAN in Battodo.

:eyes: Wow! Excellent indeed. I'm surprised with all the kneeling in the first one, especialy when you knelt just before bringing the sword down in the center. Does the kneeling give more force…or balance? Just wondering.

  2. gdare says:

Graham – thanks :DPam – Seiza no Bu and Tatehiza no Bu are two basic series of kata in Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu; the first one is kneeling position (seiza) and the other (tatehiza) is with one leg folded and another ready for attack/move, as you can maybe see at the beginning of kata; these two series are made as a development in some kenjutsu koryu learning (traditional schools) – usually there are no sitting and kneeling positions in martial arts with swords; :sst: it is kind of hard to explain and I will soon need to go to bed, I am tired now :zzz:Angeliki – I am glad you liked it; I was thinking if I should put these at all, I don`t talk about this too much because people start to look at me as if I am some superficial being – which I am certainly not; so, this is just for my Opera friends and once you all visit this post I will shut videos down :DJava – the length of a sword is standard, but I guess you are afraid :lol:the light in second movie is not that yellow, this is how my camera saw it ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. Javaen says:

1st one: :D. My. What a big sword you have. :lol:2nd one: Cool set up with the lighting. :eyes: ๐Ÿ˜ฎ hmmmm. Impressive. :left: *thinks she must re-plot her Mission: kickdaresass plan* :sherlock:

  4. ellinidata says:

I did read articles on you wins/achievements but seeing the video filled the missing puzzle pieces!I do put posts in a "private use" like the summer story that won a prize on Opera, my kids' pictures were there …(old pictures of two or three years ago are OK since they did change much, but recent pictures are still a big no no in my books ) thanks for sharing Darko ! ๐Ÿ™‚

@ Pam.@ Angeliki. As soon as I figure out what that smiley is, I'll know if I should laugh or not. It kinda looks like somebody with pancake all over their face. :pI would have expected that you would have told Darko how handsome he looks in his black jedi outfit. Okay, I'll do it — Darko, you look very handsome in your black jedi outfit. ๐Ÿ˜†

And thanks for showing this — I had to admit I was very curious.#1 vid.Otherwise called (translating) Method of Threatening Stupid Waiter at Restaurant. #2 vid.Poles. :rip:I added those to my favorties on youTube, so do you mean you are going to just remove this post in a week or that you are going to delete them on youTube — or both.PS. I hate to brag or anything, but I have a 2nd Dan in bullshito. ๐Ÿ˜€

  13. SqueakeyCat says:

Javaen, I tried that and it still won't play it. Guess I will have to wait until next week when I can get to a regular computer.

  14. thaodp says:

  19. gdare says:

  20. PainterWoman says:

  21. glenno says:

I was hoping you might be passing and need some practice, doesnt look like it would take long…. ๐Ÿ˜†

  22. ellinidata says:

885 Euros are much more than 885 USD :pnext time : gold bars ๐Ÿ˜€

  23. gdare says:

Carol – :hi: :)Angeliki – all I could see, there are 885 eur, well, better than nothing ๐Ÿ˜€ thanks for being proud of me :happy:Kim – I am sorry, usually people can go to links I provide under the embedded video; anyway, I will wait until you can go to your PC and see them :)Java – I am tall person and this blade is 2.50 shaku long – 29.8 inch – 75.75cm :)Ed – ๐Ÿ˜† your interpretation is interesting; I plan to delete them from my You Tube acount, but there are a lot of interesting videos there about both schools, and many more; time after time I will upload more videos and probably some of them will stay there forever…. or almost forever :DI have never heard someone call it "jedi outfit" :lol:Mit – thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. glenno says:

That was impressive, #2 was the best  , btw my apricot tree needs pruning…

  25. ellinidata says:

Eddie,"Ah, I see. The love that dares not speak it's name"it is called "care" .

  26. Javaen says:

Kim, nice to meet you. Dare, thanks for the conversion. Dammit, how can I be mad at you when you're so considerate!?!? ๐Ÿ˜ก Glen- ๐Ÿ˜† That made me laugh out loud!

  27. Aqualion says:

Awesome, Darko. I used to practice Aikijutsu back in the 90's, a little bit of bokutล and kenjutsu as well, because martial art and rock'n'roll drumming goes well together – the movements and the agility. I still enjoy fooling around with a broomstick once in a while… It didn't really catch my interest, though. My awesomeness is now limited to the drumming. Being awesome at something is really nice.

  28. sanshan says:

I need you to defend me on my bike rides this week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  29. edwardpiercy says:

"it is called care"You spoke it! It's against the rules to speak of unspeakable things. That's why they're call 'unspeakable' things.

  30. gdare says:

Angeliki – :sing: Gold, Always believe in your soulGlenno – :lol:Martin – thanks; martial arts always drew my attention, I wanted to practice Karate when I was 7 but my father was against it; I started with Kendo when I was 17 and never stopped with sword practice since; it is good to recognize what are you good at and then give yourself to it with a whole heart :)Java – :PSanshan – I've told you, baseball bat could be a solution :whistle:Ed – but it can be done in unspeakable way… maybe :left:

  31. gdare says:

San, I bet there are a lot of knights just waiting for you to ask for help :knight:

  32. gdare says:

Errr…. how exactly scary your bicepses they are? :eyes: Schwarzenegger type? :yikes:

  33. sanshan says:

No, they're too scared of my biceps.

  34. sanshan says:

I think it's a more romantic ideal to have a guy in armor with a sword to defend me. Woman with baseball bat just is so, so…angry sounding don't you think? Not that I shouldn't be angry!

  35. Spaggyj says:

*giddily claps hands* awesome! Very graceful, Dark ๐Ÿ˜€ . Will you post more?

  36. rose-marie says:

Oh wow! That is รผbercool, Darko! Thanks for putting this up!*bows head in respect and slowly backs away*

  37. Dacotah says:

    Hi Darko ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Cois says:

  39. ellinidata says:

"Ed – but it can be done in unspeakable way… maybe":p I am a talker

  40. PainterWoman says:

๐Ÿ˜€ "ubercool"I like that word Rose.

  41. gdare says:

Rose – oh, thanks :oKimmie – I will, probably when I make some more movies ๐Ÿ˜€ in time….Clint – ok, it will stay for a week at least :DAngeliki – :DPam – words in a for of "รผber-something" are sometimes used here too; usually when there is something funny to emphasize ๐Ÿ˜€

  42. gdare says:

:sst: I don`t like bragging about it so I will remove them later when they fulfill its purpose :left:

  43. Cois says:

Only a week? :insane: ok no problem :p

  44. gdare says:

It helped me going through the worse times in my life. Also beautiful ones

  45. SittingFox says:

Thanks for sharing these Darko. You must find it a very rewarding discipline

  46. Cois says:

You don't like bragging? :awww: but it's just such a beautifull thing :p

  47. Spaggyj says:

Ok, I will wait patiently

  48. gdare says:

    Cois – :lol:Kimmie –

  49. Javaen says:

Clint.- they are real short. Like 17 and 22 seconds, if that helps. ๐Ÿ˜€

  50. gdare says:

This is why I want to remove them. I am very careful ๐Ÿ˜‰
