It was on the radio few days ago, early in the morning, while I was sipping a cup of coffee and reading posts and comments in MyOpera. It has been a while since I`ve heard it last time. My day was suddenly brighter
It was written by Irish songwriter Ray Heffernan and Guy Chambers for Robbie Williams, and appeared in his album Life Thru a Lens as a fourth track, in September 1997. Some people think that this song was a career saver for Robbie Williams. In any case he is singing it in almost all of his concerts π
Song made a great success and was covered by many. The most famous are Jessica Simpson, British soul singer Beverley Knight, British classical crossover group All Angels as well as David Archuleta who performed it for American Idol. In 2005. Mexican singer Yuridia made a Spanish and in 2006. Italian baritone Patrizio Franco Buanne released Italian version of the song. You have links of every version of the same song.
According to a poll conducted by the Performing Right Society, Angels was voted to be the most popular karaoke song.
But on my opinion the best version is on the top of this post π Enjoy!
Adele, it is very uplifting, I have it in my head for a few days now π
It is very beautiful, and somehow uplifting. I'm not a Robbie Williams' fan but I do enjoy this song π
I'm afraid countless horrendous sing-alongs out on the town have ruined this song for me… I prefer the original version anytime! :p
I might make a post on Idol since I'm such an addict and provide a link to their site so you can see the recent performances. For several weeks before, they show all the people trying out including the really bad ones and how they're made fun of. I don't really like that part either. But sometimes I think a few of the bad ones who dress really goofy are just doing it to get filmed. Then there are some who believe they can sing well and get bashed by the judges. You can see it in their faces how hurt they are.
Pam – yeah, some people take it too seriously; it has to be fun after all but not derogatory. I can`t wait to see your post :up:Carol – I am glad you liked it π
Beautiful song and lyrics. I like Robbie's version but also David's and the Italian one too. I thought sure David would win Idol that time. Adam's going to win it this season. Or Alexis. Adam is a fantastic performer. I am an Idol addict.
We had our version of Idol, but I didn`t like it. They made fun out of people and not real talents appeared. It was mostly folk music, or a modern version of it. "Turbo folk" as it is well known here :yuck:But I remember watching some of English and USA performers and they were really good
π Trust me, you definitely wouldn't!
Tell you what – if you do it first, I'll follow
Java – :sst: "lot of love and affection":DRose – ahem, ahem:sing:and through it all she offers me protection a lot of love and affection whether I`m right or wrong and down the waterfall wherever it may take me I know that life wont break me when I come to call she wont forsake me I`m loving angels instead:sing:Now it`s your turn. But you can`t do it the same way I did π

I don't care for Robbie Williams as a singer or a person, but this song is moving. At times :p .
